“2015 has been quite some year for Frome”, said Kate Bielby, Mayor of Frome.
“We won ‘Council of the Year’ in October and were recognised by the Academy of Urbanism as a ‘Great Town’ in November; we bought the Old Showfield back as a permanent open green space for the town, the Frome Food Assembly and the Independent Market have both, quite rightly, received national recognition.
“As we look ahead to 2016 there are lots of challenges facing us, as any town, but there are also many things to look forward to in Frome. If things go to plan, we’ll have a new Town Hall and the possibility of some great developments in our town centre.
“You don’t need a crystal ball to know there’ll be too many events, exhibitions, performances, sports fixtures and plays to keep tabs on in the coming twelve months.
“At this time of year it’s important to remember and thank those in our health, police and fire services who keep working and who play vital roles in our community regardless of the date.
“Circumstances can make Christmas a difficult time for some and this Christmas Day I’m particularly looking forward to visiting Frome Community Hospital and attending Frome’s amazing Big Christmas Get Together.
“On a personal level, it was an incredible honour for me to be elected in May, not just as a town councillor but also as Mayor. I have had the opportunity to attend numerous events, learn about great organisations and meet some incredible people. I’d like to take this opportunity to thank all those who’ve been so helpful, kind and welcoming this year and to wish everyone in Frome a very Merry Christmas.”
