Hunting Raven Books is hosting an event on Wednesday 23rd January, with Andy Burnham, author of The Old Stones – the most comprehensive and thought-provoking field guide ever published to the iconic standing stones and prehistoric places of Britain and Ireland.
Organisers say, “In his book, Andy Burnham gives unparalleled insight into where to find prehistoric sites and how to understand them, by drawing on the knowledge, expertise and passion of the archaelogists, theorists, photographers and stones aficionados who contribute to the world’s biggest megalithic website, the Megalithic Portal.
“At the event – which will take place in Trinity Church Hall, Trinity Street – Andy will talk us through how he set about pulling the guide together, about his own affinity to ‘the old stones’, and offer up suggestions for the best sites to visit to get away from it all, soak up a spiritual experience, and get inside the minds of the Neolithic and Bronze Age people who created these extraordinary places.
“Tickets are £5 and can be redeemed against purchase of the book on the night. Tickets can be reserved/purchased by calling 01373 473111, emailing winstonebooks3@gmail.com or by popping into the shop (9-10 Cheap Street, Frome). Tickets can also be purchased directly online via Eventbrite.co.uk (simply search Andy Burnham: The Old Stones)
“Doors open at 7pm and the event will start shortly after. Andy will happily sign books after the talk.”
