MEMBERS of Frome Street Carnival’s committee will be walking all nine carnival routes in the ‘Wessex Carnival Circuit’ to raise money for next year’s street procession.
Committee members are aiming to raise £1,000 by walking the nine routes, which includes Frome, Mere, Shaftesbury, Gillingham, Wincanton, Castle Cary, Salisbury, Trowbridge and Warminster.
They will be walking each carnival route on what would have been each town’s normal carnival day. And whilst the sponsorship money will go towards next year’s carnival, the walkers will be collecting money whilst walking the routes, which will be donated to local Frome charities.
The committee says, “We are hoping to raise much-needed funds as the carnival event costs many thousands of pounds to organise, and items such as insurance are very expensive.
“Any amount, large or small, will be very welcome and it will all help us get the event back on the road in 2022.
“All monies raised on the day in the buckets and collecting tins will go to the charity account to help local groups and charities in and around Frome.”
