Frome Town Council will be celebrating the launch of new outdoor fitness equipment at the Old Showfield on Saturday 3rd September, with a range of free activities and games between 10am and 4pm.
The spectacular will officially launch the new fitness equipment which is going to be installed on the Showfield in early August, with expert advice and encouragement.
“It’s really exciting,” said Emma Parker, the council’s Community Projects Officer. “The new fitness equipment will be a great place to meet up with friends and have fun. It’s been designed so you can have a go whether you’re new to exercise, or you’re a regular gym-bunny!”
“We’re going to have people on hand to explain how to use the new equipment throughout the day so this is a great chance to come and try it out.”
The event is also going to promote the benefits of a healthy lifestyle and simply enjoying being outdoors.
“We’ve got local sports clubs and health & wellbeing groups coming to the event, too,” continued Emma. “So come and have a go at Zumba while pedalling a bike to create your own music, or try out self-defence; or summit the climbing wall!”
The event will also see a range of games to play including cricket, rounders and badminton; as well as school favourites like egg and spoon races; sack races; tug of war; and three-legged races. There will also be general health advice, free health checks and talks on nutrition.
