IT’S that time of year again when there is a buzz around East Woodlands! The Woodlanders are preparing for their annual Variety Show at The Hippodrome (otherwise known, more correctly, as the East Woodlands Village Hall), Frome, BA11 5LQ. Can it really be that time of year already I hear you cry?
Early on in the rehearsal schedule the newly elected chair of The Woodlanders, Glyn Carpenter, presented a cheque to Sandra Gaisford on behalf of the East Woodlands Village Hall committee, a donation from the proceeds of the 2022 show.
The Woodlanders were established in 1977 and they put on their annual performance of The Woodlanders Variety Show at East Woodlands Village Hall on the outskirts of the Longleat Estate. All profits of the shows are donated to local groups, charities, and clubs and over the years they have raised well over £120,000, and all profits this year will again be donated to local good causes.
Anyone who would like to come along and see what they do and hopefully be tempted to join them next year – either on stage – singing, dancing, acting, etc or off – sewing, props, curtains, writing etc, please come along to one of their rehearsals, at East Woodlands Village Hall, near Longleat at 8pm on Monday and Wednesday evenings or call Trudi Whittock (secretary) on 01373 462745.
Trudi said, “We are a small friendly group who like to have fun with a little bit of work thrown in!”
“Rehearsals for the new show which will be performed between 2nd and 7th October are now in full swing with a great deal of hilarity and hard work by the cast in the process. Songs, dancing, sketches but most of all the emphasis is on fun!”
Tickets are available now, please note the new box office details, from Ann Hart on 01373 764291/ 07510 919573, email annhart68@ ymail.com, check The Woodlanders out on Facebook or visit their website at https://www.thewoodlanders.biz
