LOCAL counselling charity, We Hear You, will be hosting its first benefit concert, WHYRock, on Saturday 17th February.
The event is being organised by local musician and We Hear You supporter Nick Clinch, who will be performing on the night with his band This Raging Silence, along with five other local bands. All the musicians taking part are performing free of charge and Frome Town FC have donated the use of their venue for the event, so all proceeds go directly towards We Hear You’s free counselling service for anyone affected or bereaved by cancer or a life-threatening condition.
Organiser Nick says, “The gig has five bands to suit all musical tastes, kicking off with ‘ The Straight Fits’ a very promising young band from Frome. We also have ‘Laugh Clown Laugh’, an eighties synth band who, due to recent public demand, have experienced a fresh lease of life. The third band are ‘This Raging Silence’ who are based in Bristol and bring their own unique blend of rock, prog, and funk. They are followed by the very talented electro pop sound of ‘Sweet Machine’ and we’ve recently added the talented singer-songwriter Sara Vian to the lineup. The evening is wrapped up with the brilliant ‘The Bad Detectives’ and their unique blend of R’nB with a rockabilly twist.
“Thanks so much to all of the bands and the football club for making the evening happen. This is going to be a great night in aid of a fantastic cause. Book your tickets now on Eventbrite and see six amazing local acts for just a tenner.”
Tickets for WHYRock cost £10 plus booking fee and are available from Eventbrite by searching for ‘WHYRock’ at Eventbrite.co.uk or by clicking through to the site from wehearyou.org.uk/ fundraising/whyrock-2018/.
