Over 400 hardy runners lined up for the Pewsey Vale Terminator on Sunday, 26th February.
This 12-mile multi-terrain race starts in the village of Pewsey and takes runners along the Kennet and Avon canal and the hills to the South of Milton Lilbourne and Pewsey. It finishes with a climb to the Pewsey White Horse before heading back down to Pewsey. A total of six Frome Running Club members took to the starting line for the off-road challenge.
Ian Holmes (MV40) was the first Frome club runner to finish, posting a time of 01:47:25. He was closely followed by Pete Larman (MV40) at 01:54:38, Victoria Penman (FV35) at 02:01:03 and Giles Padfield (MV40) at 02:01:45. Rebecca Webb (FSEN) finished in a time of 02:07:38, followed by Lynn Brand (FV55) in 02:22:03.
Also on 26th February, another group of club runners took to the streets of Bournemouth for the Bournemouth 10. Starting and finishing at the city’s pier, the ten-mile course follows an undulating route along the promenade and cliff top, overlooking the seafront with stunning views of the Isle of Wight and the Purbeck Hills. Joseph Donworth (MSEN) was flying the flag for Frome. He completed the course in an outstanding 00:59:55, earning himself 4th position overall. Chapper Boulton (MV50) was the next club runner to finish in 01:27:26, followed by Laura Krstovska Francis (FV35) in 01:38:12.
Slightly closer to home, Kat Uphill (FSEN) took to the starting line for the Bath Two Tunnels 10K race. She notched up another sterling performance, completing the course in 00:40:26 to finish as the second woman overall. Alistair Smith (MV60) took part in the Two Tunnels 5K race on the same day, his time of 00:25:05 earned him first position in category.
