Monday 29 Aug – Larkhall 0 v 4 Frome
THIS North Somerset derby was played out on a difficult bumpy pitch as a result of the extreme weather but Frome got back to winning ways with a comfortable victory at Plain Ham.
The first clear chance came in the 6th minute when a long throw from Maidment dropped to Teale on the edge of the penalty area but the shot cleared the bar.
Jamie Adams then wriggled his way past two defenders but his shot hit the post and rebounded to safety. Luke Hopper broke the deadlock on 16 minutes when he picked up a rebound and drilled it past the home goalkeeper. He claimed his, and Frome’s second just before half time after Maidment headed a corner back across goal for him to volley into the back of the net
Larkhall came out all guns blazing in the second half and dominated the early stages without genuinely troubling Phillips in the Frome goal until the hour mark when he was forced to tip a looping effort over his crossbar.
On 78 Humphries the impressive Humphries who had been causing the opposition problems and drawing fouls beat two defenders and squared to Adams whose shot went under the home keeper to make it 0-3 and the game safe.
One more was to follow when two substitutes combined, a Withey cross finding Clarke outside area and his deflected shot looped over the goalkeeper.
Overall an impressive performance.
