FromeFM has welcomed its latest volunteer to the community radio station.
Local student, sixteen year old Mischa, will be joining the station as a trainee journalist and presenter gathering local news stories with a fresh youth-focused angle.
Mischa said, “Current affairs and politics fascinate me and I’ve always been an avid radio listener. I’d love to pursue a career in journalism which is why I’m hoping to contribute my perspective as a young person, researching local news stories so that I can become more involved within the community.
“I’m really looking forward to gaining an insight into the world of broadcasting and seeing what goes on behind the scenes.”
Jennie Smith, a long time FromeFM member who has led many of the stations youth-focused initiatives said, “It’s great to have Mischa on board. She’s a very insightful person who’s already shown a lot of initiative and determination. I’m really looking forward to supporting Mischa learn new skills and achieve her ambitions.
“Radio has proven to be a brilliant route for young people to grow as people – building confidence, learning how to work in teams, and all the technical skills to turn an idea into a fully fledged broadcast.”
