The Tree Group Frome in conjunction with Shared Earth Learning would like to thank everyone who came to Weylands field on Sunday the 17th and got stuck in planting 28 native trees.
“Co-ordinated by Charly Le Marchant, we planted wild cherry, spindle, hazel, dogwood, pussy willow, guelder rose,” said the group. “We were happy to be joined by Olivia Cliff from the Centre for Community Herbalism who taught us about some of the herbal uses of these trees.
“Shared Earth provided a warm fire and cups of tea. F.R.O.Gs brought a tree quiz. Pavla Kislerova from Hej Grow shared tasty and nutritious wild food plants which are currently coming up this spring.
“We want to thank Frome Council for providing the trees and tools and the organisers of the Potato Day which funded the event.
“We look forward to holding similar events in the future.
“If you want to be involved or have ideas of places we can plant trees please join our Facebook group, The Tree Group Frome, or email pocketfullofacorns@mail.com.”
