IN memory of the much respected Gerald Williams, three lime trees were recently planted at Orchardleigh Golf Course.
The Reverend Colin Horn said a few words of tribute and blessed the trees. He mentioned how the trees would serve as a permanent reminder of Gerald who was a good club member, player, and loyal friend with a great sense of humour and fun. The trees were planted in a location Gerald loved.
Gerald had been club captain at Orchardleigh in 2004 and was involved with the senior’s section at the club for many years. The club members had raised the funds for the trees as a mark of their esteem. As well as Gerald’s family, many members of Frome Lions Club also attended the dedication as he had been a member of the club for over 40 years. He was the Lions President in 1978-79, and was awarded the Melvin Jones Fellowship for his work as a Lion and charitable fund raising over his long service.
Gerald was also a well-known local character, businessman and butcher in Bath Street, Frome who touched many people’s lives.
