Have you ever thought about becoming a trustee?
Frome Town Council has organised a programme of events and workshops centred on topics that will help local community groups and charitable organisations with topics relevant to their sector and work.
Kate Hellard, the Town Council’s community projects officer explains, “Many of Frome’s very active and successful organisations are structured as not-for-profit social enterprise or a registered charity. This means they rely on the energy and enthusiasm of Trustees to steer their organisations in the right direction.
“Trustees can bring with them a wealth of experience and knowledge in many different ways, for example professional experience in fundraising, accounting or PR, or first-hand experience of using services similar to what the charity delivers.
“If you’re an existing trustee or someone who is thinking about taking on this role, then this course is for you.”
Following on from the first session in April, a workshop about ‘The Role of a Trustee’ a nationally recognised course delivered by the Civil Media Society is taking place on Monday 16th May. The Course will cover a trustee’s role in the governance of an organisation or charity and board leadership.
An interactive workshop, the day will enable attendees to share challenges and meet other trustees. The cost to participants is £10 for the day’s session and lunch will be included. Contact poultonl@frometowncouncil.gov.uk to book a place.
