MERLIN Theatre staff, volunteers and comedy-lovers are all delighted to hear that the ‘poster-boy for British comedy magic’, Pete Firman, has chosen the popular 240-seat venue to launch the Southern leg of his new tour, ‘Bag of Tricks’.
Known for his many TV appearances, including ITV1’s Tonight at the London Palladium and The Next Great Magician, BBC1’s The Magicians, The John Bishop Show and The Sarah Millican Television Programme, Pete Firman’s trademark blend of laugh-out-loud comedy and jaw-dropping magic is likely to be a sure-fire hit this October.
Born in Middlesbrough, Pete’s interest in magic began as a child when his mother bought him a magic book. After twice winning the school talent show, and finishing his education, he started performing in pubs and, as he explained, “…anywhere I could get paid for doing tricks, basically. I figured I wanted somewhere a bit more regular to work, and I saw the comedy circuit as something I could explore. Because I’d always tried to make the magic I was doing funny and light-hearted, and I never took myself too seriously.”
Join Pete Firman, described by Time Out as “the funniest and by far the most accomplished performer on the New Magic scene…funnier than most comedians and more magical than Dumbledore on a good day. This guy is a complete star.”
He will be dressed to impress and making magic to amaze on October 1st at 7.30pm.
