A FROME baton twirling team won second place in the European Majorette Championships last month.
Frome Fascination Twirlers returned from the competition in Crawley with a silver medal, after competing against groups from 12 other European countries. The team earned the honour of representing their country when they won a national championship in July.
Trainer Tanya Billing said, “The silver medal was won in the Senior Traditional Majorette Section and is an amazing achievement for everyone involved.
“Myself and Tracy Brewer, who run the team, are both extremely proud of everyone involved. It’s very difficult to get on the podium at this event as the competition level is so high. This is a dream come true and an experience we will never forget.
“The competition was one of the biggest European majorette events and had competitors from England, Croatia, Czech Republic, Romania, Slovenia, Norway, Italy, Hungary, Belgium, France, Bulgaria and Holland.
“The group has been training since January and can practise up to 13 hours a week.
“We also came a superb fourth in the Junior Traditional Majorettes section and fifth in the parade core. With these achievements we hope we have made Frome and England proud!”
