As the dark nights pull back and the mornings are not so frosty, The Good Gallery will be featuring two new artists bringing some spring colour and life into the Gallery, from 1st March – Maureen Bond and Olivia Hicks.
The gallery is a showcase for local artists, providing them with an outlet for their creative work, whilst at the same time helping to support We Hear You’s cancer counselling service. All the commission from sales in the Gallery will go to We Hear You, helping the charity to provide its free, professional counselling service.
Maureen Bond, describes painting as a joyful process – a celebration of the natural environment. She works mainly in inks and watercolours on paper. She draws her inspiration from the wide landscapes of Somerset and Wiltshire, the history imprinted in the land, the changing palette and shapes of the seasons. Current work looks back on the bleakness of winter and forward in anticipation of the return of new life, warmth and colour.
Olivia Hicks is a veterinary surgeon living in Bradford on Avon, working on becoming an artist whenever she gets the chance. She is inspired by her work with animals which has taken her across the country and has nurtured a love of the British countryside and its inhabitants.
Olivia says, “I find producing my art a very mindful relief from my hectic professional life. After more than a decade of concentrating on being a vet I am now beginning to focus on my art a bit more – I really think it’s good for the soul. I am delighted to be exhibiting at the Good Gallery, helping to support a local charity as well as showcasing my work.”
