FROME Ukulele Club has made a donation of £500 to the local charity Fair Frome. The ukulele club’s Malcolm Lloyd said he knows the money will be well used in the lead up to Christmas.
He said, “Meeting the Fair Frome chairman, Bob Ashford, in the Food Bank to make the presentation was a humbling experience. To see the enormous range of basic products that Fair Frome hand out on a weekly basis shows the level of need in our town. Thankfully, the community of Frome is very generous, but it is a real eye-opener to see what happens.”
The club held an Annual General Meeting on Zoom, which was the first time that Frome Ukulele Club has got together since March. Reflecting on the achievements during the year was fairly simple for departing chair, Malcolm Lloyd, who said, “We had to cancel our 2020 Ukulele Festival in March just two weeks before it was due to take place, and the 2021 Festival has been cancelled as well, as we have no idea when we will be able to get back together a perform “live.”
The Frukes haven’t performed since Christmas last year, but new chair, Roger Southard has ideas for the future, including taking exams! Watch out for the tee-shirts proclaiming “Level One Ukulele!”
