Local business, Vallis Veg has gained the accolade of being one of Britain’s 25 ‘coolest campsites’ in a Daily Telegraph feature article.
With its individual woodland pitches, the article said, “few sites can match Vallis Veg for the ‘purist’ camping experience”.
Vallis Veg, also a market garden which grows vegetables using eco-friendly methods and sells them in Frome via its local veg box scheme and the Frome Food Assembly, established a small campsite on its premises just outside Frome in 2014.
Campsite proprietor Cordelia Rowlatt said, “It’s lovely to be able to share the beautiful site where we live with other people. We’ve been amazed at the level of demand for the campsite.
“It’s very small, and the facilities are basic, but people love the combination of having their own secluded woodland pitch on a bustling small farm within easy reach of the town. As well as helping our own business, the campsite brings people to Frome, which benefits the local economy.
“When I set the campsite up, I thought a lot about the kind of camping experience I’d like to have – it’s nice to see that it’s chimed with other people, and been recognised in the Daily Telegraph article.
“It’s still early days, and we’re still learning how best to manage the campsite, but it’s great to have people visiting the farm from all around the country, and even from abroad.”
