Frome Printmakers’ workshop in Eagle Lane has recently undergone a series of developments to improve the printmaking workshops, to open a brand new shop/gallery and to run regular courses for those interested in learning printmaking techniques.
The workshop has been established since 2000 as a non-profit, self-financing studio that provides local artists with high quality facilities to complete editions of fine art printmaking.
Organisers say, “The last year has seen a dramatic development of the workshop facilities to include LED lighting throughout and improved work areas. The front rooms have been converted into relief printing workshop and gallery to show the works of artists involved in the workshop. The gallery will be open Saturdays and market Sundays each month and at other times when in use by artists, so you can come in and see what they are up to.
“Printmaking as a technique covers a broad area; in the Frome Printmakers workshop they offer excellent facilities for lithography on plate and stone, etching on copper, collagraph, letterpress, relief printing (lino, woodcut), monoprinting, photopolymer and various alternative photography techniques (gum bichromate, cyanotype, gumoil).
“It is an exciting time for the development of this fascinating space, you should pop in to have a look, if only to see the old hand operated printing presses! They are always open to supporting local artists through membership and tuition.
“Printmaking courses for those interested are a regular feature of the revamped space, details will be on display in the workshop windows or contact steve_clarkson@talk21.com for more information or to be added to the mailing list. Happy printing!”
