PLANS are afoot for Frome to join the worldwide parkrun community, but organisers need your help to get the ball moving.
Parkrun is an organised, free weekly 5k run that is held all around the world. It is open to anyone, young, old, serious runners or people just wanting to get outside and exercise.
Frome parkrun is in the early stages of planning, but organisers are already off to a great start with a donation from Frome Town Council to help cover the set-up fee.
About the next steps involved, event support ambassador and volunteer, Sean Price said, “We now have to set up a volunteer core team and secure permission to use a course for the parkrun.
“When we have a core team and course permissions, there is paperwork for health and safety and the website to collate.
“Once we are ready to start parkrun in Frome, we will ask locals to help by volunteering at the first event.”
