Frome based local charity We Hear You (WHY…) has been shortlisted by the Sainsbury’s store at Frome for their local Charity of the Year partnership vote.
Voting closes on Sunday 24th June and you can vote either in store or on line at www.sainsburys localcharity.co.uk by selecting the Frome store.
WHY… fundraise to provide free, professional counselling to local children and adults affected or bereaved through a range of life-threatening conditions. WHY… is a unique service in and around Frome; offering professional support to not just patients but family members, friends and colleagues too, without a time limit for access to their support. Each session of counselling the charity provides comes at a direct cost to the charity of £44, a huge £4,000 a week is required to sustain the service.
Next year will see We Hear You (formerly Positive Action on Cancer), turn 25 years old and they are keen to partner the team at Sainsbury’s Frome to promote some exciting silver anniversary events.
Helen Sprawson-White, fundraising officer for WHY said, “This is a really exciting opportunity for us, a small local charity. Our service has had to grow by over 100% in the last couple years to meet the demand in our community. With no government or NHS funding partnerships with local businesses, this is vital for us to both raise awareness and fundraising, to sustain and grow the service as we try to meet the increasing demand for support. We would really appreciate people taking the time to vote for us in store and online and also asking their contacts to do the same. Every vote counts and will make a huge difference to We Hear You and the families we support.”
The charity with the most votes wins the store’s charity partnership for the coming year which would be invaluable to We Hear You moving forward.
