A SHOP that has been a feature of Frome town centre since the 1940s is set to reopen after being closed for refurbishment.
Ellenbray, which specialises in toys and stationery, has been closed for three weeks while refurbishment has been carried out and the owners are hoping to open its doors again by Saturday 1st March. The re-fit will see new products and displays introduced, with eco-lighting installed and additional insulation.
While Ellenbray is closed in the Westway shopping centre, owners David Chedgy and Jeremy Walwin have set up a pop-up shop at Unit 2, Manor Furlong, Marston Trading Estate, Frome BA11 4RJ – just past the recycling centre.
The shop is part of Frome’s heritage having traded in the town for many years and served generations of locals and visitors. The popular local shop moved to its current site in the old library, Westway in 1992, when the new library was built.
Co-owner Jeremy Walwin said, “We are very keen to reinvest in Frome and continue to serve the people in the town who have supported us for so long. The new refurbished shop will have a modern look and will enhance the customer experience.
“We decided to offer a pop-up shop in the period of refurbishment as part of our commitment to our customers. We have also set up a free delivery service to orders over £10 to show our appreciation. The new modern shop will be an enjoyable place to visit and, with additional products available, it will have great appeal for shoppers in Frome. In the near future, we also plan to offer a wide range on-line.”
