FROME Community Cars is now open for business, and drivers are ready to transport local people unable to use buses or taxis.
Frome Community Cars is a group of volunteers who have offered to use their own cars to pick up passengers in the BA11 area and take them to places such as medical appointments, the chemist, social activity groups etc. predominantly in the Frome area.
Resilience officer at Frome Town Council, Cara Naden said, “Passengers will be required to pre-register with the scheme. It is important to note this is not a taxi service as it is aimed at those, who for a variety of reasons, are unable to use a bus or taxi.
“However, there will be a charge of 55 pence per mile to cover fuel and other car running expenses. Holders of a bus pass will get a 50% discount.”
To register as a passenger or if you would like to be a driver, even if you can only spare a small amount of your time, call 07596 591391 or email frome communitycars@gmail.com
