A SLAPSTICK whodunnit featuring four actors, a dozen characters and a load of chaos is coming to the Merlin Theatre on Saturday 29th April at 7.30pm.
Shoddy Theatre are bringing their slapstick, whodunnit comedy riot of a show, A Shoddy Detective And The Art Of Deception, to Frome. Inspired by the classics of comedy such as Only Fools and Horses and Fawlty Towers, it follows a hit run at Edinburgh Festival Fringe.
In a hilarious whodunnit of funny farce, a bumbling detective is called upon to uncover the mystery of a priceless stolen painting, but when he cannot solve it himself, he is forced to enlist the help of an old nemesis. Together, the pair must interrogate the many characterful suspects that reside at the manor, in order to catch the conniving culprit and solve the crime of the century!
Join this exciting new theatre company for their first visit to Frome; as director and actor, Mitch Donaldson explains, “People just want a really good laugh, a great night out and to forget their troubles. That is what they’ll get with Shoddy Theatre.”
Shoddy Theatre was first established in 2018 when six drama students devised their final term show. It was such a hit that it was awarded funding from Essex University to become an established theatrical production company.
Since then, Shoddy have sold out their run at The Camden Fringe 2019 and The New Normal Festival 2020, and when the pandemic hit, they turned their attention to social media and produced numerous sketches and posts for their followers, which gained over 100k views from people across the world.
