RESIDENTS of Catherine House Care Home in Frome were treated to a surprise visit from some famous furry friends on Friday 15th December.
Alpacas, named Jimmy and Oliver, well-known from their BBC Countryfile appearance on Sunday 10th December, were entertaining the residents of Catherine House Care Home.
Alpacas are now regular visitors to care homes and prove very popular with residents with their placid nature being used as a therapy treatment for the elderly.
Wendy Williams, owner of Jimmy and Oliver, as well as 34 more alpacas as part of Shaftsbury-based Alpaca Adventure said, “The alpacas are very soft to the touch and always elicit a great response from care home residents, including those with dementia.”
Olivia Pritchard of Catherine House said, “We had a fabulous day at Catherine House with the visit from Jimmy and Oliver, the alpacas. The residents and staff loved the visit and are very much looking forward to them visiting again.
“Catherine House has a varied wellbeing programme which has included residents horse riding and swimming, to a monthly visit from ‘Elvis’. Jimmy and Oliver will most certainly become a regular part of this programme.”
