SHORT story writer, Christina Sanders, will be hosting a ‘walkshop’ this month to help local writers to explore ways of walking to inspire their creativity and connect with their senses.
The ‘walkshop’ will be held on Saturday 17th March from 10.30am to 3pm. Christina says, “The Walkshop explores a range of approaches to walking, imagining and interpreting your surroundings, linking personal memories and associations with landscape, whilst introducing new ways to capture your impressions.
“Through a combination of discussion, walking and writing activities, we will focus on links between walking and writing, and our relationship to place. Participants will have the opportunity to try out different approaches, and gather material through a local walk (approx. 1.5 hours). Working with material from our walks, we will experiment with ways to write about our encounters.
“The Walkshop is suitable for writers, (both beginners and practicing writers) of fiction, non- fiction, memoirs/life-writing, looking for inspiration, or ways to develop their writing.
“By the end of the Walkshop, you will have tested a variety of walking approaches to inspire your writing, and will have a clear understanding of how setting and place are fundamental to good writing.
“Walking can be flexible to all abilities – please note, the Write Place in Black Swan Arts can only be accessed via stairs. If you are unsure whether it’s for you, please give me a call: 07738 763 161. We will stop for lunch at the Rye Bakery in Whittox Lane.”
