THE Post Office has said that it is “working hard” to restore its service in Frome’s town centre.
Frome Town Council has also said that they are continuing to work with the owner of the Westway shopping centre, Maybrook Properties, and others, to ensure that the post office operation can continue in the town centre.
Frome’s main Post Office, located in the Westway shopping centre, closed at the end of June, leaving Frome with two outlying Post Office branches – Portway and Rodden Road.
News of its closure earlier this year sparked fears amongst residents that queues at the remaining branches, already described as “long”, would become “horrendous”.
A Post Office spokesperson told Frome Times, “Frome Post Office closed on Tuesday 22nd June due to the resignation of the operator. We are working hard to restore service to the area as soon as possible.
“We apologise for any inconvenience caused by the temporary closure of the branch. The vacancy is currently being advertised on our website www.runapostoffice.co.uk. In the interim, alternative branches include Portway and Rodden Road.”
The full addresses of alternative branches are: Portway Post Office, 2 Portway, Frome, BA11 1QP; and Rodden Road Post Office, 34 Rodden Road, Frome, BA11 2AE.
