ALL-round talent, John Cooper Clarke, will entertain the masses at the Cheese and Grain on Saturday 14th July as part of Frome Festival, with his unique style of poetry.
John Cooper Clarke’s profile has dramatically risen over the last year with a BBC documentary, numerous media appearances including “Have I Got News for You”, as well as tours in the USA and Australia, and a tour with Squeeze this autumn. He will also be performing at London’s Shepherds Bush Empire two days after the show at The Cheese and Grain.
Britain’s best loved and most important performance poet, John is as vital now as he was in the 70s. His biting, satirical, political and very funny verse is delivered in a unique rapid-fire performance style, which resonated with the punk movement. He toured with all the seminal bands; The Sex Pistols, The Clash and The Buzzcocks, and in the USA with Elvis Costello. He regularly tours throughout Europe and Australasia. He still averages over 100 shows a year worldwide.
No bigger accolade of his work is that he was awarded an Honorary Doctorate in July 2013 by the University of Salford. He is studied by many college and university students throughout the world, all ensuring that he will be forever ingrained in the psyche of the world’s youth. His rapier sharp wit and communication skills are second to none and if he flies off at a tangent, you can be sure of a hilarious and thought-provoking journey.
