FROME actress, Kayleigh-Paige Rees has been cast in ITV’s new eight-part series ‘Sanditon’, based on Jane Austen’s last unfinished novel, and adapted for the screen by Pride and Prejudice and War and Peace screenwriter, Andrew Davies.
Kayleigh-Paige will star as Julia Beaufort, the elder of two sisters who visit Sanditon.
Kayleigh-Paige began her love of musical theatre in Frome, becoming a member of Frome Musical Theatre Company when she was young, with her last performance in their 2013 pantomime, Dick Whittington.
After graduating from Bath Dance College, Kayleigh-Paige went on to pursue a career in acting, and she has now been continually working in roles for the past three years.
Last year she landed her first lead in the film ‘Ann Rolls Green’ which was featured on Amazon Prime.
Kayleigh-Paige said, “Unfortunately I am unable to disclose much information at this time, all I can say is that I am playing the character Julia Beaufort and honestly, I am completely overwhelmed and ecstatic to be taking on this opportunity.”
ITV said, “Written only months before Austen’s death in 1817, Sanditon tells the story of the joyously impulsive, spirited and unconventional Charlotte Heywood and her spiky relationship with the humorous, charming (and slightly wild!) Sidney Parker.”
Kayleigh-Paige will star alongside well-known actors including Rose Williams, Theo James, Kris Marshall and Anne Reid.
Sanditon is currently being filmed at The Bottle Yard and on location in Bristol and North-East Somerset, with assistance from Bristol Film Office. The air-date for the eight-part series is yet to be announced.
