STUDENTS at Frome College are appealing for the help of local businesses to make a calendar to raise money for a school counsellor.
Four students in the after-school Enterprise Club are planning to make a calendar using photos by the college’s photography students to raise money to employ a counsellor to help Frome’s young people with mental health issues.
Year 9 pupils Alex Waldeck, Teigan Throup, Robert Trowbridge and Sam Evans issued a plea earlier this month for local businesses to sponsor the calendar.
Their letter read, “This calendar will be given as a gift to all new Year 9 students starting the College in September and will be distributed to a range of local businesses.
“We have made the decision to raise money to go towards employing a counsellor as there has been a recent rise in the number of college children who suffer from depression and other mental illnesses.
“The cost of putting your logo or advert into a 70mm x 50mm area on our calendar is only £75. If you decide to support us, you will be supporting many young children to not only have a better life, but also get a better education and help them to focus on passing their exams.”
The students say the companies who sponsor the calendar will have their logo on display in 250 local homes, will get the ‘feel-good factor’ of helping young people in the town, and will be supporting young creative entrepreneurs.
