YOU-TH Space Counselling Service for 15 to 18-year-olds living in Frome and the Mendips is set to relaunch from the beginning of April.
The service says that it is gearing up to offer more sessions to young people who are in need of counselling support. They say that common issues faced by young people include anxiety, depression, feelings of loneliness or isolation or just feeling different to others.
The service is run by five dedicated counsellors, led by experienced young person’s counsellor Bryony Cranstoun, who explains, “We provide a safe, secure and non-judgmental space where young people can start to put into words what they’re struggling with, and this process can help them become more resilient and empowered.
“As a charity, the service relies on the generosity of people’s donations and so we ask those who can afford it to contribute to the costs of the counselling. However, we know how difficult life can be sometimes and we will always provide the service free of charge to those who need it.”
You-th Space, based in Wessex Counselling’s new premises at No 5 King Street, in the centre of Frome, provides face-to-face, on-line or telephone counselling.
The service has been supporting young people’s mental health and wellbeing since 2015 and over the past twelve months its counsellors have worked with more than 50 young people, helping them to explore and understand their thoughts, feelings and behaviours, and supporting them in their desire to feel happier and more resilient.
Young people currently in need of support can self-refer to You-th Space, or can ask their parents or school to contact the service on their behalf through the Wessex website: www.wessexcp.co.uk. Alternatively, you can get in touch by phone on 01373 453355.
