
TRAFFIC ground to a halt in the Market Place last week when pupils from Frome went ‘on strike’ to protest against climate change.
The protests were part of the Global Climate Strike on Friday 20th September, which saw millions of people across the world take to the streets to protest, calling on businesses and governments to cut emissions and bring ‘an end to the age of fossil fuels’.

LOCAL group, Sustainable Frome is hosting a number of discussions on environmental issues in the coming months.
The group meets on the first Thursday of the month at The Good Heart Cafe, Palmer Street, from 7pm-9pm.
The group say, “This is a discussion forum about environmental issues, making a difference in our own lives and in our own town to reduce carbon footprint, and to our living space.
Upcoming topics are: Thursday 3rd October – Tree Group hosting, biodiversity plan, apple day; Thursday 7th November – Homes, exchange of ideas, skills, knowledge about reducing your home’s carbon footprint; Thursday 5th December – Christmas – how to enjoy it with less waste; Thursday 2nd January – Film night; and Thursday 5th March – Cycling, how to promote it, Missing Link, ‘Live to Ride’, Cycles Maximus, etc.”
