TWO members of Frome Selwood Tennis Club’s under-14 group, Andrei Bujor and Magor Juhasz, came first and second in the local player competition in ‘The Road to Wimbledon’ event.
This unique national competition provides an opportunity for junior players who qualify, a chance to compete on the grass courts at Wimbledon.
The initial club stage was played at the Frome tennis courts and the winner will go into the draw for the county stage in July. The winners of this stage will proceed to play at the national finals held at the All England Club later in August.
First place position and the qualification spot went to Andrei Bujor, he won all of his matches and was the clear winner.
Magor Juhasz also won all of his matches and played in the final against Andrei.
Tennis coach for Frome juniors, Chris Matthews said, “It was a great morning of tennis and all players played with great sporting spirit. I wish Andrei the very best of luck in the next round!”
