Schools, performing arts groups, community projects, charities and local arts organisations are wanted to help a group hoping to improve the town council’s support of performing arts in and around Frome.
Groups from Frome and the surrounding area are invited to come along to discuss the local performing arts scene at a panel meeting on Tuesday 19th July, at Rook Lane chapel from 7-9pm.
Councillor Al O’Kane, who chairs the council’s Performing Arts Panel, said, “This next meeting is dedicated to schools, all performing arts groups, community projects, charities and local arts organisations. As with all panel meetings – everyone is welcome to attend.
“The objective of the panel is to identify ways in which the town council can help maintain and support the development of the wonderful performing arts scene here in Frome and the surrounding area. The meeting will focus on what is good, what can be improved, what people and organisations need, and what the town council might be able to do to help.
“Myself and the other councillors involved are really enjoying hearing from all sectors of the performing arts scene. Our town is so rich in creative talent, but with the government cuts in the arts over the last few years, it’s about time we had a chance to voice the issues we face, and hopefully discover new ways of helping each other.”
The meeting is open to the public and press. Anyone unable to attend can email their thoughts to admin@frometowncouncil.gov.uk. For further information call 465757. For more information on the Performing Arts Panel see the town council’s website www.frometowncouncil.gov.uk
