This year is Frome Tennis Club’s centenary year and the club in Somerset Road is planning to build the town’s new community tennis pavilion later in the year. The club is looking for a company to help with the last part of the finance needed for the new pavilion.
John Price from Frome Tennis, development & fundraising said, “It will be open to users of the community tennis courts in the Mary Baily Playing Field, tennis club members and for booking by community groups. The club hosts visiting league teams, tennis open days and competitions throughout the year. We have around 110 adult members and 40 juniors. In addition, around 40 members of the public have community season tickets and there were 2,470 booked sessions on the community courts last year.
“We provide free tennis membership and free coaching for young people from low income and Covid-affected families, and also have concessionary memberships available for adults with low incomes.
“Planning permission has been obtained, and we have almost achieved our fund-raising target of £136,619 with just a few thousand pounds to go.
“We are looking to partner with a company who could provide the missing finance in return for naming the pavilion. Okay, not quite as high profile as the Emirates or Etihad Stadium but the principle is the same! We would be hoping for a 5 to 10 year arrangement and your contribution could be spread over that period if you prefer. We could also discuss other features like the possibility of reduced-price corporate memberships, or free meeting room hire if you wish. Above all you will be helping sport in the local community.
“We are very much looking forward to a possible partnership with you. Please contact me if you would like an informal discussion. My contact details are: John Price, Frome Tennis – Development & Fundraising, projects@ frometennis.nettel. 07713 737890.
