NCT Frome and District Branch is looking for enthusiastic people to join its team of volunteers.
NCT is the UK’s largest parenting charity – helping parents all the way from bump to baby and beyond.
Frome NCT runs lots of regular and one-off groups and events, including Tiddlers playgroup, Music and Movement, Great Expectations (a pregnancy peer support group), and Bumps and Babes, where you can share your experiences over coffee and cake. The Fathers’ club has just re-launched to ensure the dads aren’t left out.
Everyone is welcome; you don’t have to be a member of NCT. On top of all this volunteers welcome people into their homes at open houses and evening socials, run ‘nearly new sales’, provide a change and feed tent at larger local events and publish a quarterly magazine.
The branch is entirely staffed by volunteers and more people are always needed to help run the groups and activities. There’s also the opportunity to take on a committee position, making use of your existing skills or gaining new ones.
Team roles are varied, interesting and fun and there’s something for everyone, even if you only have a small amount of time to offer. Support is always given by the team and there’s also support and training available at national level.
You’ll get a sense of pride and achievement for your efforts, make new friends and have some useful experience to add to your CV too.
Jessica Slater, NCT joint branch coordinator said, “If you support NCT and want to make a difference for local parents, why not think about volunteering? You can get involved as much or as little as you like, depending on the time you have available, and it’s a great way to meet other parents in the Frome area.”
