FROME Symphony Orchestra is getting ready for its next large-scale concert which takes place on Sunday 17th March at 7.30pm in the Cheese and Grain.
The event is entitled “A Green and Pleasant Land” and features works by four British composers which evoke our countryside, coastline and heritage. Vaughan Williams’s Fantasia on a theme of Thomas Tallis is a regular in the Classic FM hall of fame, and promises timeless Tudor grandeur from the orchestra’s string players.
The dramatic and unpredictable seascape is depicted by the full orchestra in Frank Bridge’s four sketches ‘The Sea’. The programme also features Elgar’s epic tone poem ‘In The South’ and a rare performance of Malcolm Arnold’s ‘Peterloo Overture’.
Tickets are available from the Cheese and Grain box office on 01373 455420 for £12 (adult) and £5 (under 18). For more details, visit www.fromesymphony.org.uk.
