The FROME Medical Practice are now taking bookings for their flu vaccination clinics for 2017.
As well as during the day midweek, this year weekend flu clinics are being held on Saturdays, with the next clinic being scheduled for Saturday 14th October.
The easiest way for patients to book their appointment is to do so online at www.fromemedicalpractice .co.uk. Alternatively, patients can telephone the practice on 01373 301301 or book direct in person with the reception team.
As with previous years, the flu vaccinations are free for those aged 65 or over, as well as for those who are pregnant. Adults and children who have a long-term health problem are also eligible on the free treatment scheme. Healthy children aged 2-4 can also be treated free under this scheme. For this age group children receive the vaccine in nasal spray form.
Dr Helen Kingston, senior partner at the practice said, “Our records indicate that there are approximately 8,000 patients who are eligible for a free vaccination. This number includes the main carers of those who are disabled or elderly and whose welfare would be at risk in the event of their carer becoming ill. I would also point out that for those over 65, they are also entitled to a free pneumonia vaccination providing life time cover.
“We are hoping that the new Saturday dates will make it a great deal easier for patients who have other commitments during the week.”
Anyone wishing to make a booking is urged to contact the practice without delay. The reception team will also be pleased to answer any queries on eligibility to a free vaccination.
