Not every school releases an album of eight original songs but, with the help of Rocktopus, that is exactly what Christ Church C of E First School and Nursery did in 2019! So, it seems fitting to share highlights from 2019 by using track titles from our limited edition, Now That’s What I Call Christ Church! CD.
We Can Overcome Our Fears (the David and Goliath song); In October we ran a mile with Sergeant Rachel to raise funds for WHY … to support people affected by a diagnosis of cancer or another life threatening condition.
Be A Global Neighbour; In September, at our Harvest Festival, we said a huge “Thank you!” to God and to the people who catch and harvest the food we eat … and then donated all of the produce to Fair Frome.
Everyone Deserves A Place To Do Their Business (the Toilet Twinning song); In May we learnt that millions of children around the world do not have access to clean water or hygienic toilets.
Save Our World Today; In November birds of prey visited school … and we took action against climate change by raising enough money to plant 142 trees in Kenya.
Jesus Helps Us Make Good Choices (the Zacchaeus song); In April our newly-fitted solar panels began feeding power into the National Grid.
Come Learn With Me!; In March we celebrated World Book Day and British Science Week. In December we spent over £3,000 on new reading books.
Say Thank You! (the Ten Lepers’ song); In January and February, and again in June and July, we said a massive “Thank you!” to volunteers who came in at weekends to redecorate the school.
I’ll Be A Good Friend; In August we hosted summer club activities in our freshly-painted school hall.
