Students at Frome College have celebrated their achievements in the Duke of Edinburgh’s (DofE) Award scheme at the school’s first dedicated awards evening.
The event on Tuesday 20th October included guest speakers, a certificate presentation with students also sharing reflections on their experiences of the award scheme.
Year 13 students working towards their Gold DofE Award also organised a second-hand clothes stall, bake sale and other fundraising activities, raising £87 towards their expedition this summer.
Theo Pavli, DofE coordinator at Frome College, said, “Well done to all the students who received their award and thank you to volunteers and Carol Authers from Somerset DofE.”
The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, founded in 1956 by Prince Philip, is a programme for young people, encouraging them to develop new skills, volunteer in their communities, take part in physical activities and complete an expedition.
