Lauren Rustell from Frome, with her family and friends, recently raised over £1,000 for the Fire Fighters Charity.
Lauren said, “On the 4th February this year my father Michael Rustell was tragically killed in a car accident, so I wanted to do something in his memory and that he would be proud of.
“So I, my partner Liam Caslake, stepdad Keith Eames and friends, Alice Starr, Charlotte Lock, Kate Hooper, Rachel and Ian Humphreys of Frome Fire Brigade decided to do a 40 mile bike ride in memory of my dad, with the proceeds going towards the ‘Fire Fighters Charity’.
“Throughout my childhood years my dad was in the fire brigade, and it was something that he loved to do, and it played a big part in both our lives, so it seemed right raising the money for this cause.
“On the 12th October we all took part in the ’40 miles for Rusty’ charity ride, starting at the sports centre in Frome heading to Radstock followed by Wellow, Hinton Charterhouse, Midford, Bradford-on-Avon, Farleigh Hungerford, Rode, Dilton Marsh, Standerwick and finishing off at Frome Sports Centre.
“This took six hours to complete with £1,163.47 being raised.
“I would like to thank everyone who sponsored me and my friends and family for making this possible.”
