STARS of the 60s, 70s and 80s are lining up to appear at the Cheese & Grain.
Making an appearance will be 80s’ icon and Spandau Ballet star Martin Kemp; legendary singer/ songwriter Gilbert O’Sullivan; Al Stewart; Wishbone Ash celebrating their 50th Anniversary; The Blockheads and Steeleye Span.
First to appear at the venue will be Martin Kemp, headlining the venue’s 80s Festival, on Sunday 25th August.
“Martin returns to Frome following three successive sold-out shows at the venue,” says the Cheese & Grain. “His ‘Back to the 80s’ show is currently the most in-demand 80s show in the country, playing to capacity crowds everywhere he goes.”
Then, whilst the summer draws to a close, the temperature will continue to rise with five of the all-time great acts taking to the stage.
The Cheese & Grain adds, “The legendary singer/songwriter Gilbert O’Sullivan will be appearing on Monday 7th October in a really rare special one-man show. Expect all the classic hits and a unique opportunity to see this wonderful performer in an intimate and unforgettable setting
“On Saturday 19th October, 60s’ superstar Al Stewart will be performing with ace American outfit The Empty Pockets as part of his huge “Hits & Misses” tour. It’s a great coup for the venue to get an artist of this stature to appear in this unique all-seated show.
“On Saturday 26th October, Wishbone Ash are celebrating their 50th Anniversary with an incredible three-hour show featuring all the classic material, along with never seen before archive footage on back screen projection. Support comes from the irrepressible John Otway, self confessed “Rock & Roll’s Greatest Failure!”
“On Saturday 23rd November, the mighty Blockheads will be bringing the house down! After over 40 years on the road, the much loved funk/rockers are cutting back on live appearances so this may well be the last chance to catch one of the most influential, quirky and dynamic acts you’re ever likely to see!
“On Sunday 8th December, there’s a real treat for all folk rock fans when Steeleye Span are also celebrating an amazing five decades on the road. With Maddy Prior still at the helm and a sensational group behind her, expect an irresistible evening and a wonderful early Christmas present!”
