CANCER counselling charity We Hear You (WHY) is once again hosting a Santa Dash – a 4k fun run with runners in Santa costumes on Sunday 12th December at the Old Showfield, starting from Frome Cricket Club.
Following a successful virtual event in 2020, with Santas running from as far away as Scotland, WHY are running both a face-to-face and a virtual event this year, so supporters can join in wherever they are on the day.
Fundraising and communications manager, Gemma says, “The Santa Dash is great fun and suitable for all ages and most fitness levels – some people go for a PB, some people walk – it’s all about taking part and raising cash for WHY! Thank you to Frome Cricket Club for having us back for what has become a popular fixture in our fundraising calendar, and to Frome Running Club for their support and expertise to make it all run smoothly and for timing our Santas.”
“Due to the success of the virtual event last year, we decided to offer both options – anyone who would like to join us in Frome can do so (and maybe enjoy a post-dash bacon sandwich?) at 11am on Sunday 12th December; but you can look silly for a good cause wherever you are by registering for the virtual event and running any distance, anywhere, any time. Whichever you choose, please tag us in your photos and flood our social media with Christmas cheer! There’s no minimum sponsorship, but we’d love you to try to raise £44 each, which is the cost of one session at WHY, providing vital emotional support for anyone affected directly or indirectly by cancer or any life- threatening condition.”
Tickets for the Frome Santa Dash cost £10 for adults and £6 for children, which includes the cost of a Santa suit and medal, from https://register.enthuse.com/ps/event/SantaDash21.
The Virtual Santa Dash offers with/without Santa suit options for children and adults, priced between £4 and £16. For more information visit www.eventbrite. co.uk/e/virtual-santa-dash-2021-tickets-188302747587
