Frome Good Afternoon Choir will welcome the celebrated Bath Male Choir to Holy Trinity Church, Frome, for a concert with music for all tastes and chances to join in, on Saturday 27th October.
The non-audition Good Afternoon choir started singing together last November and alreadyhas over 50 members, with more joining each week. The accent is very much on making friends and enjoying a full repertoire of music. They are led by Matt Finch.
Bath Male Choir hit the headlines when they reached the finals of the BBC’s ‘Last Choir Standing’ series and are one of the leading male choirs in the country, never failing to bring an audience to its feet. Recordings and tours, including a visit to Japan three years ago, have established them as a hugely popular concert choir.
The Frome Good Afternoon Choir meet every Monday afternoon at Holy Trinity Church from 2-4pm. The Good Afternoon Choirs are a project led by Grenville Jones and there are now nine across the west of England.
Tickets for the concert on October 27th are available from Frome Good Afternoon choir members or from the office on 01761 472468 priced £10 (under 12s £6). The concert starts at 7.30pm, with doors open from 7pm.
Members of the Frome Good Afternoon Choir have chosen a local organisation, the WHY charity to benefit from their fundraising this year.
WHY (We Hear You) work across Bath and North East Somerset, Somerset and Wiltshire providing emotional support to children, young people and adults who have been touched by cancer or any other life-threatening condition.
The charity says, “Our service is available face-to-face at our 10 counselling locations and online via a video platform for those who find it difficult to travel to us, or who prefer to access counselling at home. Since 2016, we’ve also offered group therapy, funded by Macmillan Cancer Support. At We Hear You we understand that cancer and life-threatening conditions can be overwhelming. Your situation can leave you feel-ing numb, isolated and terrified and can seem too big to cope with. We provide a safe space where people can say the unsayable and ask the unanswerable. When you ask why . . . we hear you.
