A new look for Milk Street Green

Milk Street Green, an open space close to Vallis First School and The Griffin, has had a makeover and now includes flower beds, benches and imaginative play structures.

The makeover is thanks to the members of Trinity Community Group, Milk Street residents, pupils at Vallis School and residents of the Trinity area, working with Frome Town Council’s ranger team, tree officer Helen Viner and Frome Town Council’s communities team.

The recently completed site was the setting for one of four sessions creating banners celebrating ‘community superheroes’ as part of Frome Kindness Festival on 17th March.

Local resident Andy Myring said, “Thank you and the ranger team for doing such a marvellous job on Milk Street Green. It really looks great and will, I’m sure, improve even more over time as the planting grows. The reaction from the neighbourhood has been very positive and we all look forward to this area becoming a central ‘hub’ for community gatherings.”

Adam Baylis of Trinity Community Group said, “Trinity is an exciting and historic part of Frome, with a vibrant and diverse community. But one thing that Trinity has always lacked is a central community space. That’s all changed now thanks to the work by Frome Town Council and so many local volunteers. Everyone says it looks amazing!”

Cllr Mark Dorrington said, “The great work at Milk Street Green follows the creation or renovation of other community and play spaces in Frome, including the Welshmill Woods play area, the playground at the Old Showfield or just the new picnic benches you’ll see dotted around – places and spaces for people to come together, interact and socialise.
