FROME Skatepark Project (FSP) members say they are excited to be back and more determined than ever to achieve their goal of “getting Frome the skatepark it deserves”.
The newly-formed community group is in talks with the town council, local architects and skatepark designers. The group kicked off fundraising events at December’s Frome Independent where, as well as raising their profile, they sold t-shirts and tote bags branded with their new logo, designed by teenage FSP co-founder, Ed Bucklow.
FSP members say they were bowled over by the generosity of a local businessman who, after speaking to them about their ambitions, donated £1,000. The benefactor, who wishes to remain anonymous, said he hoped that other local businesses would follow suit as he was baffled as to why Frome doesn’t have better facilities for teenagers.
FSP will be selling t-shirts and tote bag stocking fillers at the Cheese and Grain’s Frost Fair on Friday 23rd December, and in the same week, two club nights will donate ticket proceeds to the project.
Wednesday 21st December sees Frome Music Club returning to the Silk Mill for the first time since 2012. The night, entitled SLAM, is a collaboration with Frome College’s newly-formed BÆRFÜT DJ Project. There will also be a party with vinyl only DJs being hosted at the Loft, 23 Bath St on Friday 23rd December.
