A new young adults’ community food project has been set up at the Welsh Mill Hub, BA11 2LE for anyone aged 18-35.
The food project will take place every Thursday from 4pm to 6pm and is being organised by the CIC Edventure.
Organisers say, “We are offering a warm, safe space for young adults to come together, build connections and share ideas. There will be food provided, and the opportunity to work on practical and creative projects individually or with others. Or just hang out and enjoy a meal together.
“This initiative is sort of a youth club for over 18s. Youth provision typically ends at 18, and there are very few supported opportunities for young adults to gather in a space, discuss ideas and develop projects. Many young adults feel isolated, frustrated, and unheard.
“The cost-of-living crisis, the availability of affordable housing, access to meaningful employment, transport issues, are all very real problems. In the midst of all these things we hope to provide a positive and inclusive space for young people to get a cup of tea, and talk about what’s impacting them; and maybe think what we might do to change things.
“If you’re wanting to meet new people locally, be a part of a community, share your ideas and get involved with the evolution of this project, then join us on Thursdays at The Welsh Mill Hub. Open to anyone aged 18-35.”
The sessions will be hosted by Cassie Morris, (who co-founded Make: Shed), who says, “We’re aware of the continuing impact of the cost-of-living crisis on young adults and want to open up our space for young adults to share ideas, cook together and explore ways we can respond to the current pressures we face.”
