Friends of the River Frome cleaned up a section of the river at Adderwell last month.
The volunteers removed a large amount of metal from the river – bits of machinery, railway equipment, scaffolding and lots of stripped cable.
“The river level had been lowered to enable work on the Wallbridge weir so the rubbish was very visible and access to the river easier than usual,” said the group.
“Thank you to Simon, Mim, Dianne, Keith, Edward, Jeremy, Teresa, Richard and others.”
Friends of River Frome is setting up a system of river guardians who will regularly monitor the condition of the river and alert Friends of the River Frome to problems.
