ACTIVE and In Touch, the local charity which seeks to address loneliness and isolation for people of all ages in Frome and the surrounding villages, is branching out.
The charity has moved from its base in Frome Town Hall to the new office at Harlows, just over the road at 22 Christchurch Street, and on Wednesday 8th March, the café in Frome Medical Centre was opened for a taster day, providing very welcome, and complimentary, cups of tea and coffee to patients and staff.
The date was chosen specifically to help celebrate Kindness Week in Frome. Those taking advantage of this service were also able to speak to Lisa Cooke, director of service, Active and In Touch trustees, staff and volunteers during the course of the day.
“Sadly, the weather was not the best, as snow was falling for much of the morning, but hopefully, at the end of April or beginning of May, when the Kindness Café opens permanently the weather will be much more up-beat,” said the group.
Overseen by a manager and with Active and In Touch volunteers present to welcome them, customers and visitors will be able to purchase a range of drinks, snacks and light lunches whilst relaxing and chatting in the café.
As one visitor commented, “It’s very exciting to know that the café will be re-opening after such a long time. It has been sorely missed and the plans sound very exciting.”
Please keep an eye out for further details, and remember a very warm welcome awaits you, says the group.
