Hundreds of people from across the Frome area took to Victoria Park on Saturday 10th June for the Frome Lions annual summer fete.
The fete was officially opened by the Frome mayor, cllr Philip Campagna, and those who attended were blessed with warm weather as they perused the various charity and local stalls and took in the performances of Infinity Dance, Frome Cheerleaders and Frome Dog Training Club in the arena.
As well as the well-established favourites such as the train rides, coconut shy, skittles and the ever-popular tea tent and Lions BBQ, there was a free children’s craft and activity tent and local magician and balloon entertainer Dave Hickory impressed both young and old alike with his skills which was also offered free of charge to the children. A new feature this year was the appearance of the Frome Dragon.
Michael Geake, publicity officer for Frome Lions said, “The fete was judged to be a great success by the various charities and commercial organisations who took part and helped the Lions to give the residents of Frome an afternoon of fun and to thank them for their valued support given during the past year.
“We would like to thank everybody who was involved for their help in making the day a great success, especially Dave Lucy Ltd for supplying a vehicle to transport the equipment to and from the fete with special thanks going to driver Badger for his valuable help; Victoria Park ranger Mark for his help with setting up and use of facilities; Pete Daymon-Johns for his MC duties and entertaining the children during the afternoon; Frome Town Band for supplying the music and last but not least the commercial organisations in attendance who made donations to the Lions charity fund.”
