FROME athlete Emily Diamond has begun her Olympic journey in Tokyo, reaching the final of the first ever 4x400m mixed relay.
Emily, Cameron Chalmers, Zoey Clark and Lee Thompson finished sixth in the final on Saturday 31st July, which saw Poland win gold, Dominican Republic win silver, and USA win bronze.
“6th in the Olympic final last night,” said Emily on Twitter. “It was amazing to be involved in the first ever mixed 4x400m at an Olympic Games, I loved every second of it. A few days off now, and then back on Thursday for the women’s 4x400m heats.”
Emily now moves on to the heats of the women’s 4x400m relay, this Thursday 5th August.
The Olympic, World, European and Commonwealth medallist will be hoping to repeat the success of the 2016 Rio Olympics, when she won a bronze medal in the 4x400m relay. This is Emily’s third Olympic Games.
